What is “Canongate”?
“Canongate” is a very special collection of private golf clubs that provides a quality membership experience at an affordable price. Canongate is also known for its unique reciprocity privilege that allows members to play all courses in the portfolio. Canongate represents quality, variety, and value.
How does the club reciprocity work?
Members can play golf at all Canongate locations, but have priority access to weekend tee times at their “home club.” To learn more about this, visit the Membership Types section of the website.
Has the Canongate concept proven to be successful?
The Canongate Clubs have operated under the same structure for more than 40 years and currently serve thousands of families. The clubs’ golf courses are known for quality and host prestigious events such as U.S. Open qualifiers, State Amateur qualifiers, and the Georgia Women’s Open. Member satisfaction and loyalty are high because of Canongate’s unique benefits and value.
Do family members have club privileges?
All membership categories include the primary member’s spouse and any children under the age of 23 living at home. This means the entire family can enjoy golf, dining, and social activities.
What is the difference between the Associate Golf and Full Golf membership categories?
The only difference is that Associate members are charged lower monthly dues and in turn, pay a member green fee when playing golf at their “home club.” Full Members do not pay a member green fee when playing at their home club as this fee is included in their dues structure. Both Associate and Full members are charged member cart fees when playing clubs other than their “home club.”
What is the difference between a Canongate Colorado membership and a Black Bear Classic membership?
A Canongate Colorado membership gives you golf privileges at both clubs while the Black Bear Classic offers golf privileges at Black Bear with more limited golf options at Blackstone. The Classic membership does not provide sports access at Blackstone (fitness, pool or tennis) or access to club organizations.
Do the clubs have driving ranges?
Each club has a quality driving range, practice short game area, and practice putting greens. All Canongate golf members are enrolled in an annual driving range program that provides the entire family with unlimited access to range balls at all locations for just $199 per year. Black Bear Classic members pay $125 per year for access to the Black Bear practice facilities.
Does the club host member golf events?
The clubs host many golf events throughout the year including club championships, member-members, member-guests, pro-amateurs, and more. The format for most events is set up so that players of all skill levels can compete and have fun. Serious competitors will also find plenty of opportunities to test their skills against other talented golfers.
Does the club have member leagues?
League play is a great way to meet other members and participate in a regularly scheduled game. The club has several different types of leagues including those designed specifically for men, ladies, seniors, and couples.
Does the club offer golf instruction?
Golf lessons from PGA Golf Professionals are available at all locations. The professional staff is happy to work with everyone, from beginners to experienced players. The clubs also conducts group clinics for players of all skill levels and ages.
Is golf merchandise available at the clubs?
The Pro Shops stock a wide variety of golf apparel, equipment, and accessories year round. The clubs’ PGA Golf Professionals also offer custom equipment fitting and allow members to demo the newest technology on the range and on the course.
What types of social events do the clubs host?
The clubs host a number of member social functions including cocktail parties, dinner dances, holiday parties, and family-oriented events. Functions are announced in the monthly member newsletter.
What type of restaurants do the clubs have?
The clubs’ restaurants offer table and walk up service and feature a menu that includes several breakfast choices, lunchtime grill favorites, and an assortment of salads, soups, and daily entrée specials. The general hours of operation include seven day a week grill service from sunrise to late afternoon with snack bar service available into the early evening. Full service evening dining is offered on select nights and special occasions.
Do I have access to club swimming pools and tennis courts?
An abundance of recreational amenities are offered to members including swimming and tennis as well as a state of the art fitness facility that is fully equipped for any type of personal training regimen. These amenities are all featured at Blackstone Country Club.
Can members bring guests to the club?
Members are welcome to bring guests to the club. A guest green fee and cart fee will be charged and the number of golf guests allowed per member may be subject to certain restrictions during high demand periods.
Can members walk the course when playing golf?
Walking is permitted at Blackstone and Black Bear Monday through Friday at any time, and on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays after 2:00 pm. Pull carts are permitted.
Do members have a club charge account?
Members may charge most club fees to their membership account. A monthly member statement outlines the applicable charges for that period.
Is there a food and beverage minimum?
Members have a small $10 monthly food and beverage minimum.
What is the club’s resignation policy?
One of the great things about Canongate membership is that members are not locked into a long-term commitment and can easily exit the club if needed. After the 12-month (or 24-month based on the terms selected) commitment is satisfied, the club simply requires a 30-day written notice for resignations. Members are responsible for applicable dues and charges during that 30-day notice. Please note, any pre-paid dues will not be refunded.
